Convention Overview
AnimeLatino was born from the hard work, passion, and dedication of a small group of committed fans. Spanning across animation, competitive gaming, comics, and creative costuming, we strive to bring the very best aspects of these fandoms to our fellow community members. From parents introducing their curious kids to the most dedicated old-school enthusiasts, everyone is welcome.
Based out of Atlanta, extending warm Southern Hospitality is central to our convention. It is our top priority for everyone to enjoy what AnimeLatino does best: celebrating fan culture and having fun together!
The Idea
Local campus animation clubs toyed with the idea of a community-based convention for years. In 2004, this dream was brought to life. A club officer along with a tiny, passionate crew of volunteers put together a small local gaming event. This initial convention welcomed approximately 175 people, sparking a fire that would pave the way for a much larger, multi-fandom gathering in the years to come.
Getting Started
AnimeLatino officially began through the collaborative efforts of local university alumni and anime clubs. Even now, these dedicated pioneers and alumni comprise a significant portion of our volunteer leadership. They worked tirelessly to bring the first official convention to the public in 2005, which was greeted by over 700 eager attendees. Each year, we strive to make the next event bigger and better.
Explosive Growth
AnimeLatino has been fortunate enough to receive an enthusiastic reception in the Southeast fan communities, growing by over 50% year-over-year. Reaching thousands of attendees, the convention quickly climbed the ranks to become one of the premier anime and gaming gatherings in North America. Due to rising venue costs and expanding logistics, the event transitioned from a free local meetup to a full-scale paid membership convention.
Re-establishing AnimeLatino as a membership-backed convention provided the opportunity to introduce features never possible before: adding a third (and fourth!) day of programming, bringing in stellar voice actors and artists from around the world, expanding concert spaces, and moving to the Georgia World Congress Center (GWCC) - one of the largest convention centers in the United States.
AnimeLatino was thrilled to welcome over 67,000 attendees for our 2026 event! We are expecting even more excitement and surprises for 2027!
Our Family
Most attendees at AnimeLatino interact with just a small segment of the volunteers who gather every year to bring the event to life. This core team, alongside over 1,800 passionate staff members, takes immense pride in bringing you a weekend of fun, creativity, and excitement.
MomoCon remains our family reunion, where we celebrate our shared love for animation and gaming. In an effort to keep our community connected throughout the year, we have also established year-round local meetups, cosplay gatherings, and art showcases across the Southeast region.
